Iran's top nuclear negotiator to meet EU's Solana July 5
Topic: Iran joins nuclear club
Asefi said the meeting between Larijani, who is also secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, and Solana would possibly be held in one of the European countries.
Asefi expressed the hope that the negotiations with the European countries on the Iran nuclear issue would be constructive and would yield results.
Asefi said the parties would exchange viewpoints during the meeting to remove some unclear issues in the package of proposals from six world powers.
The five permanent UN Security Council members and Germany have drafted a package of incentives to persuade Iran to halt work on enriching uranium, which could be used in both electricity generation and weapons production. EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana presented the offer to Tehran during a visit to Iran June 6.
Asefi also said the removal of the West's concerns [over the Iranian nuclear program] must not lead to infringement upon Iran's national interests.
