TBILISI, July 3 (RIA Novosti) - Conflict resolution and democracy are set to be in the focus on a three-day visit to the United States starting Monday made by Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, a presidential spokesman said.

Saakashvili, who came into power in the ex-Soviet Caucasus nation on the back of the "rose revolution" in 2003, will also discuss energy security and Georgia's integration into NATO with President George Bush.

Georgia has long running conflicts with its breakaway regions of South Ossetia and Abkhazia. The regions declared their independence from Georgia following the collapse of the Soviet Union and have seen sporadic episodes of violence since the fighting ended in the early 1990s.

The spokesman said Saakashvili, who is being accompanied by Georgian Foreign Minister Gela Bezhuashvili, will take part in the Independence Day celebrations on July 4 and will meet with the U.S. president on July 5.
