BISHKEK, July 7 (RIA Novosti) - Police in the Central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan have opened an investigation into attempted murder after a British lawyer was shot in the capital in the early hours of Friday morning.
Sean Daily, 46, of the Britain-based EDI Ltd. law firm was seriously injured after being shot three times near the entrance to his residential block in the center of the capital, Bishkek, at about 1 a.m. local time.
Daily's bodyguard said he entered the house and then heard three gunshots behind him and saw Daily lying on the ground. He said he called the police and an ambulance.
Daily, who also represented interests of a British gold mining company in Kyrgyzstan, was taken to the National Surgery Center for surgery. He is now in intensive care.
