MOSCOW, July 16 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian plane will take off Monday to Jordan to evacuate Russian citizens from the Palestinian Authority in the wake of the conflict between Israel and Lebanon, the Emergency Situations Ministry said Sunday.
"An Il-62 plane will take off at 9:00 a.m. (5:00 a.m. GMT) from Domodedovo airport in Moscow to the capital of Jordan, Amman," a ministry spokesman said. "In all, 74 citizens of Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States, mostly women and children, will be evacuated."
Israel launched a military operation in Lebanon after the Hizbollah movement took two Israeli soldiers hostage on Wednesday. Over 100 Lebanese civilians have since been killed in fighting and more than 200 have been wounded.
Israeli aircraft have also bombed the Gaza Strip.
