Ukrainian FM hopes Russian gas supplies will be stable in future

HELSINKI, August 30 (RIA Novosti) - There will be no more problems with supplies of Russian gas to Ukraine, the country's foreign minister said Wednesday.

A bitter dispute over gas prices between Ukraine and Russia's Gazprom erupted in January when the Russian energy giant briefly cut supplies to Ukraine. It later said European consumers reported shortfalls in supplies traveling through two pipelines across Ukrainian territory, which led to accusations of siphoning.

"We are not expecting any dramatic developments with respect to gas supplies," Borys Tarasyuk told a news conference during his visit to Finland.

He said all relevant issues had been settled at a recent Sochi meeting between Ukrainian Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych and his Russian counterpart, Mikhail Fradkov.

Tarasyuk reiterated that Ukraine was determined to maintain its course on European integration, and said the country was planning to join the World Trade Organization before the end of the year.
