MINSK, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - Five children are in intensive care and at least 25 have been hospitalized after they inhaled a nerve gas used by police in special operations at their school on Friday, emergency services said.
The incident occurred at the Minsk secondary school after the gas, which is used by riot police to knock people out, was diffused on the premises, the emergencies ministry said.
"One of the pupils probably brought the gas in," a ministry official said.
All school children and personnel were immediately evacuated after a strange smell spread over the area. Classes have been cancelled until Monday, Belarusian television reported.
