Freedom of speech protest held in capital of Kyrgyzstan
Unidentified attackers broke into the technical center of Kyrgyzstan's largest independent television station Piramida and set it on fire September 28.
The protesters are demanding that the Kyrgyz government thoroughly investigate the attack on the television station, which was founded 15 years ago and was known for its independence.
"The authorities must remember that independent media is still a key element in the development of democracy in Kyrgyzstan," the protesters said in a statement to the government.
Before the attack in September, the station was off the air for two months, and last summer the company's central office was also attacked. In both attacks the police did not identify any suspects.
