MOSCOW, October 18 (RIA Novosti) - Specialists from Russia's Federal Space Agency have identified and repaired a defect in Russia's new generation carrier rocket Soyuz 2-1A and scheduled a new launch time, a spokesman for the agency said Wednesday.
The launch of Soyuz 2-1A, which will put the European weather satellite MetOP in orbit, was postponed Tuesday for technical reasons. The new launch time is 20.28 Moscow time (18.28 GMT).
The launch of Soyuz-2-1A with the weather satellite been delayed several times since its original July 17 launch window for technical reasons.
The four-ton MetOp is to be put into orbit for weather forecasting and climate monitoring. The planned launches of three MetOp satellites will cost 2.5 billion euros ($3.1 bln).
