DUSHANBE, November 22 (RIA Novosti) - The parliament of Tajikistan adopted Wednesday the country's 2007 budget, aimed at fighting poverty, ensuring macroeconomic growth, boosting revenue, and expanding the tax base.
"The budget projects 3.195 billion somonis [$926 million] in revenue, or 1.26 billion somonis more than in 2006, and 3.290 billion somonis [$954 billion] in expenditures, or 1.7 billion somonis more than last year, with a budget deficit of 95.5 million somonis [$27.7 million]," Tajikistan's finance minister Safarali Nadzhmuddinov said.
Nadzhmuddinov said the country's gross domestic product was expected to grow 7.5% to 9.55 billion somonis (about $2.77 billion), or 1.5 billion somonis more than in 2006, while inflation will hit 7%.
