MURMANSK, November 24 (RIA Novosti) - Norway will finance 90% of a $47 million project to build an electricity transmission line for power deliveries from Russia, a Russian power supplier, Kolenergo, said Friday.

The project was discussed during a recent visit by executives of Norwegian energy company Varanger Kraft AS to Russia's Murmansk Region, which borders on the Scandinavian country. They visited local generating facilities and met with the top management of Kolenergo and other electricity companies operating in Russia's Arctic.

In a Kolenergo news release, the company quoted the head of Varanger Kraft, Tor Arne Pedersen, as saying: "Northern Norway suffers from acute electricity shortages, having to import 80% of its power. The lack of a grid infrastructure poses a big problem here."
