Topic: Russia's WTO entry
On the sidelines of last month's Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, Russia signed a final protocol on its accession to the world's largest trade body with the United States, removing a major obstacle to its integration into the global economy.
He said Taiana met with his visiting Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, for talks focused on bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, manufacturing, investment and finances.
Both officials spoke in favor of more intensive energy cooperation, including in the production and delivery of oil, natural gas, electricity and nuclear fuel.
They also agreed to continue working together to create a multi-polar world, to consolidate the rule of law in resolving international disputes, to promote the nuclear non-proliferation regime, and to respond to global threats and challenges, including terrorism, drug trafficking, illegal arm trade and other types of transnational crime.
