NEW DELHI, January 25 (RIA Novosti) - Russia and India are concerned about the deteriorating situation in Iraq, a joint statement said Thursday during the Russian president's visit to India.
The statement released after Vladimir Putin's talks with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, said Moscow and New Delhi said they are convinced the Middle East country's return to peace, stability and progress is possible only through national accord and reconciliation, and by promoting dialogue between all ethnic, religious and political groups in Iraq.
Both countries are unanimous in their view that events in Iraq demonstrate the need for a collective international effort to stabilize the country.
