Fifteen members of the bloc, led by Ukraine's outspoken opposition leader, Yulia Tymoshenko, seized the power switchboard room and cut off power to the session hall Wednesday, forcing the Supreme Rada to end its session.
The opposition bloc said they had cut off the power because the parliamentary majority refused to consider their proposals on draft laws on pension and salary increases, and on a controlled rise in tariffs for housing and communal services.
Oleksandr Golub, a representative of the Communist faction, said: "This is a state coup attempt. Law enforcement agencies should draw the appropriate conclusions."
Golub denied a crisis in the Supreme Rada, but the Tymoshenko bloc said the parliament faces an emergency situation.
Oleksandr Turchinov, a leader of the opposition bloc, said: "Everyone who follows the activities of the Supreme Rada agrees that it is not working normally."
He said, "the emergency situation [in the Rada] fully reflects the situation in Ukraine."
Tymoshenko said Wednesday that her eponymous bloc and the pro-presidential faction Our Ukraine will announce plans to sack the government led by Viktor Yanukovych.
"I think we [Bloc of Yulia Tymoshenko and Our Ukraine] will be able either Thursday or Friday to propose a solid plan outlining ways to oust those who are destroying our country every day," said Tymoshenko, a key figure in the 2004 'orange revolution' that brought to power the Western-leaning president.
On Tuesday and Wednesday, deputies from the Yanukovych's Party of Regions blocked access to the podium in the Supreme Rada in order to prevent opposition members from interrupting the current session.
