HANOI, February 27 (RIA Novosti) - A boa constrictor, raised as a pet in southern Vietnam, squeezed his owner to death, local media said Tuesday.
The 20-kilogram reptile slid out when the owner opened the door of the cage wrapping itself around the man's neck, strangling him, the media said.
"The man was immediately taken to hospital, but died of asphyxiation, before doctors could remove the snake entangled round his neck", - his relatives said.
The reptilian caretaker had raised about 20 boa constrictors over the past 10 years.
