Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Yakovenko will attend the fourth session of the UN Human Rights Council, due to be held in Geneva March 12-30, the statement said.
It said Russia intends to do its utmost to depoliticize the work of the Council.
"The international community should cooperate to counteract modern threats and challenges to human rights, and should strive to solve problems by encouraging and protecting them," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour will deliver a report and an interactive dialogue will be held with special reporters, independent experts and working group officials at the session.
The Council's agenda, its methods and procedural rules will also be addressed.
