BISHKEK, March 21 (RIA Novosti) - Kyrgyz President Kurmanbek Bakiyev has withdrawn his own decree appointing a new prosecutor general, a RIA Novosti correspondent reported Wednesday.
The decree appointing Elmurzy Satybaldiyev the republic's prosecutor general "was prepared in haste, without the necessary checks being completed," the presidential press service said.
Under Kyrgyz law, only those with at least 15 years work experience in law enforcement agencies may be appointed prosecutor general, whereas Satybaldiyev, 40, fell five months shy of the qualification.
March 19, following pressure from the opposition, Bakiyev dismissed Prosecutor General Kambaraly Kongantiyev, appointing Satybaldiyev the following day.
