Azerbaijan's exports grow 10.7%, imports up 44.2% in Jan-Feb

BAKU, April 9 (RIA Novosti) - Azerbaijani trade rose 28.1% in the first two months of this year, with a 10.7% increase in exports and a 44.2% rise in imports, the local state statistics committee was quoted as saying Monday.

In January-February 2007, Azerbaijan conducted trade worth $1.3 billion with 102 countries. The country exported $550 million worth of goods (41.4% of its foreign trade) and imported $779 million worth of products (58.6%).

In the same period the EU's share of Azerbaijani trade was 33.7% with countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), a loose alliance of former-Soviet republics, accounting for 31.5%.
