BISHKEK, April 16 (RIA Novosti) - Heavy rains and resulting mudslides have washed away several homes in the Jalalabad region in southern Kyrgyzstan, the Central Asian state's emergencies ministry said Monday.
At least six homes in the villages of Kara-Sui, Kara-Zhigach and Charbak were destroyed by mudslides following heavy rains Sunday might, the ministry said. Injuries have been reported, but their number is not yet known.
At least 150 homes have been flooded and some 200 head of cattle killed.
Also Sunday, an earthquake measuring six on the Richter scale hit the south of the country, but caused no damage or injuries.
