Italy's Prodi says will not run for new office term

ROME, April 20 (RIA Novosti) - Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi said Friday he will not run for another term in office after his current term expires in 2011.

"I will not run for a new term of office, because Italy needs new leaders," Prodi said.

Prodi, 67, assumed office in May 2006 replacing former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
