GENEVE, May 4 (RIA Novosti) - Switzerland is ready to return $84 million from frozen accounts to Kazakhstan for charitable means, the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday.

The funds are known to have been frozen in line with a probe against an unnamed U.S. businessman, who allegedly gave millions in bribes to Kazakh officials in exchange for oil concessions.

The United States, Switzerland, Kazakhstan and the World Bank have signed an agreement in Washington to set up an independent charitable foundation to assist children from poor families, to be managed by an international nongovernmental organization (NGO).

A supervisory board will be formed of representatives of the U.S., Switzerland and Kazakh NGOs to control assignment of the funds.
