MADRID, June 1 (RIA Novosti) - Iran proposed Friday giving the United Nations nuclear watchdog access to all its nuclear facilities that were not previously supervised by the organization, Spanish radio said Friday citing diplomatic sources.

"The proposal was made during talks on Iran's nuclear file between the EU high representative for the common foreign and security policy, Javier Solana, and the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, which were held in the Spanish capital on Thursday," a Spanish national radio station said.

The Islamic Republic has refused to suspend its nuclear program which Western countries suspect is aimed at making nuclear weapons, whereas Tehran insists it needs nuclear technology for electricity generation only.

Iran failed to halt its uranium enrichment activities by May 24, the deadline set by the UN Security Council, and to further expanded its controversial program. Tehran now faces more stringent international sanctions.
