TBILISI, June 7 (RIA Novosti) - Leaders of Georgia and Ukraine, united in their ambition to join the European Union and NATO, will meet Thursday in Kiev hit by political turmoil.

Mikheil Saakashvili and Viktor Yushchenko both came to power on the back of bloodless "revolutions" in 2003 and 2004 and have both seen their relations with Russia deteriorate ever since.

In a sign of their unanimity, Saakashvili and Yushchenko will unveil a monument to a medieval Georgian poet, Shota Rustaveli, in central Kiev.

After Kiev, Saakashvili will go onto St. Petersburg, Russia, where he will attend an informal summit of post-Soviet leaders June 9.

Ukraine has been in deep political crisis since early April when Yushchenko decreed to dissolve parliament and call early elections.
