BRUSSELS, June 13 (RIA Novosti) - The European Commission has received an environmentally friendly car for testing, Commission spokesman Maximilian Strotmann said Wednesday.
The car will be used by EU Environment Commissioner Stavros Dimas. Strotmann said the campaign was initiated by BMW to advertise a car that runs on environmentally friendly fuel.
The commissioner said Scandinavia's carmaker Saab had earlier provided a hydrogen-fuelled car for testing to the European Union. However, there is only one hydrogen fuelling station in Brussels.
Facing climate change, the European Commission proposed limiting carbon dioxide emissions to 120 grams per kilometer driven for all new cars as of 2012.
