GAZA, June 14 (RIA Novosti) - Mahmoud Abbas, the leader of the Palestinian National Authority (PNA), plans to visit Moscow next week, a presidential spokesman said Thursday.
"Abu Mazen [the kunya of Mahmoud Abbas] plans to visit Moscow June 19-21, but it depends," the spokesman said. "Unless the current crisis is overcome, he will not fly anywhere."
The Gaza Strip has been swept by a new wave of armed conflict between the pro-presidential Fatah movement and Hamas militants since late last week. Over the past five days, more than 70 people have been killed in the worst violence the region has seen since Hamas won parliamentary elections in early 2006.
