MOSCOW, June 18 (RIA Novosti) -- Sergei Lavrov, Russia's foreign minister, will attend a session of the Council of the Caspian Sea States foreign ministers in Tehran June 20, a ministry spokesman said Monday.

"The conference aims to prepare project documents for the second Caspian summit and meeting between the five Caspian presidents," the ministry said.

The ministers will discuss the legal status of the Caspian Sea, regional security provision, and local cooperation.

Lavrov said Iran's nuclear program would be off the agenda.

The status of the gas and oil-rich Caspian Sea, which is bordered by Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan, has been a matter of dispute since 2003, when Russia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan signed an agreement to divide 64% of the northern sea territories among themselves.
