TEL AVIV, June 20 (RIA Novosti) - Israeli soldiers killed two Palestinian militants in a shootout in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, and three fighters in Hamas-controlled Gaza, the army press service said Wednesday.
In the West Bank, which remains under the control of pro-presidential Fatah, an Israeli patrol was attacked as it attempted to detain two Palestinian terrorist suspects, who put up armed resistance and were killed in the return fire.
Israeli troops crossed into the Gaza Strip on Tuesday night, for the first time since Islamist group Hamas's violent takeover of the enclave. One Israeli serviceman was wounded near the closed Kissufim checkpoint, the army press service said.
