PARIS, July 29 (RIA Novosti) - France's recently-elected leader will host talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Paris Friday, to discuss the situation in the Palestinian territories.
Nicolas Sarkozy, seen to be offering a greater French contribution to the Mideast peace process, is also set to meet Israel's foreign minister and the king of Jordan in the coming days.
Abbas, who lost control of the Gaza Strip following a violent overthrow by Islamist group Hamas two weeks ago, and governs the West Bank through an emergency Cabinet, has received the support of France and the international community since the coup.
