ISLAMABAD, June 29 (RIA Novosti) - At least 20 people have died, hundreds are missing and nearly 900,000 remain stranded in the monsoon flood-stricken southern part of Pakistan, local authorities said Friday.

Authorities said that rescuers and the Pakistani Army are delivering aid and evacuating people using helicopters, but their relief efforts have been hindered by torrential rains caused by the Yemyin-03B cyclone, which has been raging in the country since Tuesday night.

The city of Turbat, in the province of Baluchistan, was the worst affected by the storm, with some 200,000 homes completely destroyed or damaged by the flood and people stranded on roofs waiting to be evacuated.

Weather forecasters have said that despite continuing heavy rains in southern Pakistan, the cyclone is gradually easing.
