GENEVA, July 18 (RIA Novosti) - World-famous controversial U.S. photographer, Spencer Tunick, announced Wednesday he will hold a "mass nude" photo shoot in the Swiss Alps for Greenpeace to highlight global warming and hopes for 50 to 100 volunteers.

The Swiss news agency ATS said the shoot by Tunick was requested by Greenpeace and will be staged on one Switzerland's alpine glaciers in late August.

The agency cites August 18-19 or 24-25 as the most probable dates, which is the warmest time of the year, and says the exact location will be known several weeks in advance.

Tunick is known for his artistic works involving large numbers of naked people; in May this year, 18,000 volunteers took part in his largest ever photo shoot in Mexico City.

He has been detained five times in a number of countries in the last 15 years as his outdoor projects were accused of violating public decency.
