DAMASCUS, July 26 (RIA Novosti) -- At least 15 people have been killed and 50 wounded in a blast that hit a military artillery training center in northern Syria with the heat being named as a possible reason, the SANA news agency said.
Syria has been struck by a heat wave in the past week when temperatures reached 45-50 degrees Celsius (113-122 degrees Fahrenheit), 3-5 degrees above the norm.
The injured soldiers have been sent to a hospital in Aleppo, Syria's second-largest city, although the majority of them sustained minor injuries from shattered windows.
SANA cited Syrian official sources as saying the blast had not been a terrorist attack.
