Three hundred Palestinians return to Gaza from Egypt
14:04 31/07/2007
CAIRO, July 31 (RIA Novosti) - Another group of Palestinians awaiting the opening of the Rafah border crossing in Egypt returned Tuesday to Gaza via Israel.
However, of 527 Palestinians who left Rafah Monday, only 300 were permitted to cross Israel.
The first group of 100 Palestinians arrived in the Gaza Strip Sunday evening.
The Rafah border crossing was closed four weeks ago after the Hamas movement seized control in Gaza. About 6,000 Palestinians in the north of the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt are waiting for the border to reopen.
Palestinian and Israeli authorities agreed on a list of 627 Palestinians who will be permitted to return to Gaza via Israel.
Negotiations are currently ongoing to coordinate a new list of Palestinians who will be allowed to return home later this week.
