TEL AVIV, August 8 (RIA Novosti) - Israeli troops killed two Palestinian gunmen during a patrol in the Gaza Strip Wednesday, the army press service said.
The troops spotted two armed men on the Palestinian side of the border fence, entered the enclave, and killed the gunmen in the ensuing shootout.
Israeli media said the gunmen were members of Islamist group Hamas, which has controlled Gaza since the June coup, when it ousted the pro-presidential Fatah movement. President Mahmoud Abbas has since controlled only the West Bank.
Local radio reported an Israeli soldier was wounded during raids in the West Bank city of Nablus, where troops were searching for Palestinians suspected of pursuing terrorist activities. Thirteen Palestinians were arrested.
