BISHKEK, September 17 (RIA Novosti) - The daughter of the ex-president of Kyrgyzstan, charged with public order offenses April 24, has left the Central Asian republic after the criminal case against her was dropped, her lawyer said Monday.

Akayeva, 35, had been charged with obstructing justice, contempt of court and destroying court documents, a copy of the court's ruling, and could have been sentenced with up to two years imprisonment.

"[Bermet Akayeva] left the republic Sunday as the criminal case has been closed and all legal restraint lifted," the Kyrgyz news agency AKIpress quoted her lawyer as saying.

The charges were dropped September 13 due to a lack of evidence.

The ex-Kyrgyz president's daughter, who was hospitalized after being questioned, later told journalists she regarded the police actions as politically motivated.

Akayeva, whose father Askar, the country's longtime leader, was toppled following the so called tulip revolution March 24, 2005, was elected to parliament shortly before the change of power.

The results of the parliamentary elections were later annulled and she was barred from running in a parliamentary by-election for violation of local residency requirements.

In response to the decision, around 2,000 of her supporters smashed the court's windows in protest at the judgment and attempted to intimidate the judges.
