ROME, October 15 (RIA Novosti) - A Russian woman has been arrested in Francavilla al Mare, southeast Italy, for knocking down a 27-year-old Italian woman in a drunk-driving incident in a pedestrian area, a police spokesman said.
Alevtina Chumak, 34, who has been living in Italy since 2003, is accused of manslaughter, failure to render assistance to the victim, and attempting to flee the accident scene.
Police said her blood-alcohol level was six times over the legal limit.
A criminal case has been opened, and the Russian Consulate General is investigating the details of the accident.
