Teenager opens fire at Finnish high school, kills eight

At least eight students were killed and more than 10 injured when a pupil opened fire at a school in Tuusula, southern Finland, local media said on Wednesday.
STOCKHOLM, November 7 (RIA Novosti) - At least eight students were killed and more than 10 injured when a pupil opened fire at a school in Tuusula, southern Finland, local media said on Wednesday.

The incident occurred at 11.45 a.m. local time (10.45 a.m. GMT) as students were having classes. Five male and two female students, together with the school principal are among the dead, media said.

The attacker, an 18-year-old student at Jokela high school, armed with a pistol ran through the school corridors shooting and threatening people. He then shot himself in the head and is currently in hospital in a critical condition.

Police said all of the students have been evacuated and the situation is currently under control.

A video about the attack, which is the first such incident in Finland's history, was posted on the YouTube Web site around two weeks ago in a trailer called "Jokela high school massacre 11/7/2007."
