TBILISI, November 13 (RIA Novosti) - Georgia intends to spend some $12 million from government reserves on early presidential elections and a parallel referendum on parliamentary polls set for January 5, the finance minister said Tuesday.
President Mikheil Saakashvili proposed moving the election date on November 8 after riot police with shields and batons broke up mass opposition rallies in central Tbilisi.
Nika Gilauri told journalists the funds would be allocated from the Georgian government's reserve fund.
The Georgian president has urged all international organizations involved in election monitoring to send observers to the presidential polls.
