GAZA, November 27 (RIA Novosti) - Israeli Defense Forces killed on Tuesday two Palestinian militants and a civilian in the Gaza Strip, Israeli military and Hamas sources said.
Two militants belonging to Izz el-Din al-Qassam Brigades, a military wing of the Hamas movement, were shot while trying to plant an explosive device on a border fence near the refugee camp of Jabalya, an army spokesperson said.
A civilian was also shot by Israeli border troops near the Sufa border checkpoint in southern Gaza. He was reported as "acting suspiciously."
At least six people, predominantly Palestinian militants, have been killed in the past 24 hours during Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip. Israel has put its army on high alert, saying that Palestinian militant groups may try to carry out a large-scale terrorist attack in an attempt to disrupt the U.S.-sponsored Annapolis Middle East peace conference.
