NEW DELHI, December 12 (RIA Novosti) - Maoist guerillas blew up railway tracks at two sites in central-eastern India's Bihar state in what is thought to be protest against death sentences given to their comrades, the Press Trust of India reported on Wednesday.
The first explosion occurred at around 2 a.m. near Bhalui station, causing the East Central Management to stop at least 15 trains on the Patna-Howrah main line.
Communist Party of India guerillas also fired at locals who rushed to the spot on hearing the blasts, but police reported no casualties.
About 90 minutes later rebels blew up the single line between the Kajra and Urain stations on the Kiul-Jamalpur section of the Eastern Railway.
A court in Bihar awarded deaths sentences to five Maoist activists earlier this month over a murder of three policemen two years ago.
Leaflets appeared soon after the ruling with revenge threats from Maoists.
