ISLAMABAD, January 10 (RIA Novosti) - At least 20 people were killed and around 50 wounded in a suicide bombing in the center of Lahore in Pakistan on Thursday, police said.
The blast went off in front of the High Court building in the eastern Pakistani city, killing mainly police officers. The bomber blew himself up on approaching a police cordon.
Police had been deployed outside the court in advance of a protest of lawyers against President Pervez Musharraf.
Turmoil in Pakistan has worsened since the murder of former premier and popular opposition leader Benazir Bhutto on December 27 last year.
No groups have yet claimed responsibility for the latest attack
