PARIS, January 11 (RIA Novosti) - A court in Paris has rejected a bid by President Nicolas Sarkozy's ex-wife to block the publication of a book about her.

Cecilia Sarkozy said the book 'Cecilia' written by journalist Anna Bitton violated her privacy and that certain quotes the author attributed to her were fake.

Excerpts of Bitton's book have already been published in French magazines and newspapers. The former first lady is quoted as calling her ex-husband an "unreliable" and "imbalanced" man, and "cheap."

She is also quoted as dismissing Sarkozy's ministers as "a gang of young men, who are drunk with power and take themselves for princes of Paris."

Cecilia Sarkozy's lawyers said they would appeal the ruling with a higher court. The book went on sale on Thursday.

Bitton denied she had falsified quotes and said she was surprised by Cecilia Sarkozy's reaction.

"The book was written following several years of contacts with her, when I was a political commentator," Bitton told the Point weekly.

The couple's divorce, the first in history for a French president in office, was announced in October 2007. President Sarkozy's subsequent relationship with Italian singer and supermodel Carla Bruni has made headlines around the world.
