CHISINAU, March 21 (RIA Novosti) - Moldova's president appointed First Deputy Premier Zinaida Grecianii, 52, as the country's first female prime minister on Friday.

Moldova's parliament accepted on Thursday the resignation of Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, who announced that he was planning to resign at a government meeting on Wednesday.

Speaking at a parliamentary session, Vladimir Voronin instructed Grecianii to form a government and draft an action plan within two weeks.

As the first deputy prime minister, Grecianii was in charge of macroeconomic issues in the former Soviet state. She is also a co-chairperson of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission for bilateral economic cooperation. Grecianii held the position of finance minister in 2002-2005.
