Two Palestinian gunmen killed in Israeli air strike on Gaza
13:40 30/03/2008
GAZA, March 30 (RIA Novosti) - Two Palestinian militants were killed and four others injured in an Israeli air strike in the north of the Gaza Strip, a source in Gaza medical services said on Sunday.
The men were killed in the town of Jabalia after they fired rockets into Israel from Gaza. They were members of al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed wing of the Fatah faction led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the source said.
Israeli troops ended a devastating offensive in the Gaza Strip in early March, which saw 120 Palestinians killed, many of them women and children. Israel said the offensive was in response to continued rocket attacks on Israeli border towns from the Gaza Strip.
Although Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza have officially denied a ceasefire agreement has been reached, there has been a sharp decline in rocket attacks in recent weeks.
