TEL-AVIV, April 30 (RIA Novosti) - Israel has closed the Palestinian Territories as part of the annual Holocaust Remembrance Day, which begins Wednesday evening, an Israeli Army spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said that the areas would remain closed for at least two days, although the memorial day in remembrance of the six million Jews killed by Nazi Germany officially ends at sunset Thursday.
"The concrete deadline for lifting the closure will depend on an assessment of the security situation," the spokesperson said.
Last night the Israeli Army conducted a series of raids on the West Bank detaining 20 Palestinians on suspicion of terrorist activities.
