YEKATERINBURG, May 14 (RIA Novosti) - The leaders of Russia and Germany will hold meetings in Germany and Japan during the next two months, Russia's foreign minister said Wednesday.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet during the July 7-9 G8 summit on the Japanese island of Hokkaido.

"Russian-German contacts are expected at the highest level in Germany and at the G8 summit in Japan in the next two months," Sergei Lavrov told journalists. "Mister Steinmeier [Germany's foreign minister] will discuss in Moscow today preparations for these talks."

Lavrov also said the current Russian-German talks in the Ural city Yekaterinburg will "make it possible to fully prepare for the tenth round of intergovernmental consultations chaired by the Russian president and the German chancellor due this fall in St. Petersburg."

Frank-Walter Steinmeier said Germans are "looking forward to new Russian President Dmitry Medvedev's visit to Germany."

Lavrov said the new Russian president and government will ensure the continuity in bilateral cooperation, saying he sensed Germany was also interested in stable relations between the two countries.
