TEHRAN, May 16 (RIA Novosti) - Three Iranian embassy staff were wounded Thursday when unknown gunmen opened fire on their vehicle in Baghdad, Iran's Press TV said on Friday.
Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned the attack, which occurred at 17:00 local time (14:00 GMT). Two of the injured are believed to be in a serious condition.
Tehran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini accused U.S. forces in Iraq of "stoking instability in the country" and said: "The Islamic Republic is determined to launch extensive investigations on the assassination attempt and will pursue the incident through Iraqi officials."
Iran, one of the few countries to maintain a diplomatic mission in the war-torn country, has been repeatedly accused by the U.S. of training and supplying weapons to insurgents in Iraq.
Iran denies the allegations.
