TEHRAN, May 21 (RIA Novosti) - Talks between Iran and the U.S. on Iraqi security have been postponed for an indefinite period due to ongoing militant activity and murders of civilians in Iraq, Iran's foreign minister said on Wednesday.

Tehran and Washington held three rounds of talks on Iraq on the level of ambassadors and experts in the summer of 2007.

"In view of the actions of foreign forces in Iraq, as well as the killing of innocent people, Iranian-American talks on Iraq are for the time being suspended," Manouchehr Mottaki said.

The parties earlier agreed to establish a three-way committee to discuss measures to boost security and defense capability in Iraq, but have repeatedly put off further meetings, citing technical problems.

The diplomat did not give details on the conditions for a resumption of talks with Washington.
