Medvedev arrives in China on two-day official visit

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in China on Friday for a two-day official visit.
BEIJING, May 23 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev arrived in China on Friday for a two-day official visit.

The Russian president was met at Beijing Capital International Airport by Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi who will accompany him to Tiananmen Square in the center of Beijing for talks with Chinese Leader Hu Jintao.

The two leaders are expected to sign a number of bilateral documents, including a joint statement on key international issues.

Late Friday Medvedev will attend an official dinner, where the Chinese leader is expected to thank Russian rescuers who took part in the relief mission in the quake-hit province of Sichuan.

On Saturday the Russian President will lay a wreath to the monument of Chinese heroes and meet with the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of Chairpersons of China (SC NPCC), Wu Bango, and the Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Jia Qingling.

He will also deliver a speech to students at Beijing University.

The Russian President was on an official visit to Kazakhstan on May 22-23. The visits are his first foreign trips since taking office on May 7.
