Medvedev says Russia will learn from Beijing Olympics

13:03 24/05/2008
BEIJING, May 24 (RIA Novosti) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev told Chinese students on Saturday that Russia, which will host the 2014 Winter Olympics, will use this summer's Beijing Olympics as an example.

The president, on the second day of his official visit to Beijing, told students at Peking University that he expected the Beijing games to be "organized at the highest level by China," and wished China success in hosting the event.

"We will be carefully studying and analyzing [the Beijing games], in consideration of the ongoing preparations for the Winter Olympics" to be held in the Black Sea resort city of Sochi, he said.

The Beijing Summer Olympics will be held on August 8-24. International media coverage of the runup to the games has focused on the troubled international torch relay, which was met with demonstrations against China's clampdown on protesters in Tibet.
