KIEV, May 30 (RIA Novosti) - The death toll from a May 23 explosion in an east Ukrainian coal mine has risen to six, with five still missing, after a miner's body was found on Friday, the country's emergencies ministry said.
The explosion at the Krasnolimanskaya mine in the Donetsk Region, where 396 miners were on a night shift, occurred early in the morning last Friday. Four miners died immediately, and three injured workers managed to make their way out.
Three miners were admitted to hospital with gas poisoning, and one is still in a serious condition.
The Krasnolimanskaya mine is known for its poor safety record and is considered high-risk for methane explosions. Last December alone, two fires occurred in the mine.
