A delegation of Guatemalan government officials led by Pokus and Deputy Foreign Minister Lars Pira arrived in Moscow on a working visit on June 1 to discuss bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The delegation is expected to attend the St. Petersburg Economic Forum scheduled for June 6-8.
"We intend to increase the volume of oil refining, and would like to invite Russian government representatives to visit our country to check our surveys related to the oil industry," Pokus told reporters.
According to Pokus, the government of Guatemala intends to radically restructure the country's oil refining and energy system to reduce dependency on oil, and that Russia has vast experience in the energy sphere.
